Learning Blog

Today in class we had short story test. We did it so our teacher could mark us on this section, and so she could see where we are at with short stories. At fourth block we went to the big gym for the pep rally. We worked together as a team and it was really fun. We have no homework tonight. Don't forget to bring in a can of food to donate to people in need!

October 29 Learning Blog

Today in class, we went over our Short Story Practice on "Side Bet". We did this so that we could study it, and also to practice for our test tomorrow. We could use this outside of Humanities if we need to practice for an important test or exam, we can practice and it will hopefully help us. For homework today, we had to study for the test tomorrow (Wednesday, October 30) and if you have not brought it already, bring a poster board tomorrow for our portfolios. Mr. Poccock has a variety of colours that you can buy for only 50 cents each, if you don't have one. His room is 214, right beside our classroom. Remember that tomorrow is the pep rally for Five Days of Fire, so wear gold! And don't forget to bring a can to donate for people in need.

Learning Blog         Monday, October 28

Today in class we worked on a sheet for "side bet" in which you had to analyze the story and write down the characters, setting, etc. Even though we were focused on our worksheet and our learning blogs, we learned more about how we breakdown a story and what the parts of the story are.

What I want to be when I grow up

When I grow up, I want to be the opposite of some things my parents do. I will pay the extra few dollars in the swimming pools instead of sneaking in. I will give the poor my leftover change and perhaps even offer them a small meal. I will bring animals to the local SPCA if I see a stray dog/cat and I will donate to the Cancer Research with my own money. The list goes on which saddens me sometimes because these are all things that my parents told me not to do. But I understand that sometimes adults mess up too and they will hopefully learn out of it. They do extremely kind things as well, however in my eyes, I see the bad more than the good. Nevertheless, I'm not saying that I wont make any mistakes at all. Everyone makes mistakes and they mess up. I'm just saying that I will try to think before my actions and make good choices.
